A cars driveline has a lot more to it than just an engine, transmission and differential. Let's look at a transmission in the first instance. The biggest killer of a transmission is "Heat", reduce your heat, or your heat exchanging capacity and your transmission will last longer. What happens when a transmission gets too hot? 1) fluid starts to degrade, 2) rubber seals start to harden, 3) frictions and bands start to breakdown, finally 4) bushes and other hard parts begin to stress and incur hotspots.

How to prevent this is to move beyond what the (OEM) Original Equipment Manufacturer, engineered for the car. Originally Tran's coolers and hydraulic lines were connected to the engines radiator. The first step is to create an independent hydraulic circuit. What this means is if your radiator fails; you won't end up with engine coolant through your transmission. The next step is to build the capacity of fluid to include a larger transmission heat exchanger, and best practice is to put an electric fan on the exchanger so as to remove the heat.

Keep the transmission cool and it will last twice or three times as long. Torque converters, operate at high speed and generate massive amounts of heat, keep the fluid cool and it will preserve your transmission. Ask TransMatt for a cooling solution for your cars specific needs. We are a custom service, everyone's needs are different. As is a choice of aftermarket shifter and converter.
